The Marronnier is a beautifully converted stone barn, set at the back of a tiny hamlet, with its own driveway. Private and secluded it offers a little bit of French chic.
4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, the two double bedrooms are ensuite, the other 2 bedrooms are twin bedrooms. All bedrooms are upstairs and the large shower room and toilet are on the ground floor. The open planned lounge and dining area lead out to the rear terrace which runs the whole length of the property.
Plenty of space for outside dining, gazebos, BBQ (charcoal and gas plancher) .The large lawned garden leads to the grassy meadow where there is badminton, trampoline, swing set, boules and table tennis to keep the children happy, lots of space to play as and lots of tracks and trails straight from the property.
The house has been renovated retaining its original features, beams and lovely stonework, it is tastefully furnished and fully equipped for a family holiday.
Kitchen: Fully equipped oak fitted kitchen, with large range cooker, plus wood burning cooker for winter lets, dishwasher, coffee machine, microwave. It is a fully functional kitchen with everything you should need.
The Swimming Pool is set in the walled garden. A haven of lavender bushes, guara, fruit trees and raised garden beds.
Gazebo and seating to relax and enjoy aperos as the sunsets. From the large picture window of the main house you can see into the walled garden and pool area.

Activities: There are so many local activities in the area, a week will hardly scratch the surface ! Something for everyone, from Canoeing, Velorail, gold panning, geocaching, rock climbing, archery, horse riding, caving, hiking.......... Canoeing at nearby Corgnac sur l'Isle, Brantome, Tourtoirac. Velorail: which is along an old railway line, 2 people pedal and 3 can sit behind, (battery pedal powered assistance options) this makes for a great family activity. Gold panning: yes you can book to go gold panning in the river Isle below the impressive Jumilhac Le Grand chateau. There is also a gold museum to visit too. (Bookings at the tourist office) Rock climbing: Excideuil with its rocky outcrops makes for the perfect place to try your hand at this exciting sport. (Bookings at the tourist office) Archery; another activity organised by the tourist office during the summer. Caving: there is huge network of caves in this area and if visiting the Grotte de Tourtoirac isnt enough to satisfy your underground excitement, then a booking with the caving group via the tourist office is something you may wish to do. Lake beach at Rouffiac with water activites (water skiing) and zip wire, acro branch climbing. Horse riding; at the nearby stables near Tourtoirac, for riders of all levels. Geocaching; a free activity for all the family. There is a wonderful loop walk around Excideuil with lots of exciting geocaches to find, including one in a 60 m cave (bring your torch). Walking/cycling/running; tracks straight from the end of the driveway. Road cycling: a cyclist paradise, plenty of Strava segments or tourist routes in the area - well marked Lawrence of Arabia route passes right by.
